NORTHERN VA NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHER - PHOTOGRAPHY SESSIONS DURING COVID
Studio Session Safety
What we’re doing to keep our Clients Safe
Well that is definitely the weirdest blog title I’ll ever write. Covid has definitely thrown a wrench in everyone’s life hasn’t it? The safety of my clients has always been my number one priority as a photographer. Newborn safety training, gentle posing, and cleaning measures are something I’ve always practiced in my ten year span as a photographer. When you bring your precious newborn, baby, or entire family into my studio space I want you to be sure I’ve done everything possible to make it a calm and healthy environment for all.
When I first stepped into the photography world back in 2011, the popularity of newborn photography had just begun. I knew I needed to invest my funds and time into education and newborn safety training. So I packed up all my gear and trekked all the way to New York and soaked up all the knowledge I could from one of the best in the biz. Simple posing, extreme care to keep babies safe at all time, and timeless dreamy editing that I still use to this day. I’ve since mentored with four other professional newborn photographers from all over the world and I will never NOT be learning and growing in this field. Ten years in and I will always invest in anything that makes me a better photographer for my clients.
When Covid struck I shut down like the rest of the world. For nine whole months I did not hold a single session my studio. This was due to the every changing information we received. I was just not 100% sure how to keep my clients and my family safe. To say I missed photographing newborns and their family’s is a huge understatement. Once summer/fall came around I was able to hold outdoor family sessions. I can’t even tell you how much I loved seeing my families! Those sessions gave me the push to really research how to carefully hold studio sessions again.
I learned about UV foggers, air scrubbers, UV light, air filtration systems and more. I purchased a UV fogger, the Vector Fog C20 to be exact, and have been so pleased with this product. I use it one hour before a session to sanitize and disinfect the air and surfaces in the studio. The sanitizing solution I use is non-toxic and is proven to kill 99% of surface and airborne bacteria including the coronavirus. It is again used after each session is complete. My hope in writing this post, as a Northern Virginia newborn photographer, is to ease one of your worries about safely capturing this special time for your family. I have all the respect in the world for new mommas who navigated and are still navigating the uncertainty of 2020-21 while safely bringing your precious baby into the world. I’m confident in the safety measures I’ve put into place and I’m just a phone call or email away if you’d like to chat further! This blissful, sleep deprived, whirlwind newborn stage will come and go so quickly. It would be my honor to photograph your little one for you.

Before and after each session the studio space will be disinfected and cleaned using a Vector fog machine. The fogger model is a C20.
Masks will be worn by all participants except when clients are getting pictures taken.
An air purifier will also be in use to help purify the air in the studio space.
I will only have up to three sessions in my studio space per week.
I ask clients to take their temperatures before their sessions. I will do the same.
I ask that clients reschedule if there are any sickness symptoms. I will do the same.
I continue our longstanding policy of laundering any backdrops or item used by clients during a session as well as sterilizing surfaces touched by clients.
I ask that parents take off their shoes at the door.
I ask that only parents and siblings come to sessions. No extended family members.
I ask everyone pump with hand sanitizer before our session begins.
I will be temporarily suspending the amenity of offering nespresso and light snacks in order to further protect your health. Please plan on bring any beverages/snacks you may require.
